Few guys I knew in H.S. adhered to the "...a little dab'll do ya!" A tube did not last very long! ..."Fall on your head and slide for a mile!" could have been another claim for it!
"Bardall does it AGAIN..."
"...a silly milimeter longer...
"...Whata'll have....PBR!..."
"...from the Land of Sky Blue Waters!..."
And, especially:
"....Hey Gang! What time is it?..." That one's kinda Waaayyy back though!!
Bill

Question 20 scc

Still debating weather to have mine re-chambered to the 20 SCC. Balistics look super plus it would look good for the club. Just don't know if the money id worth it.

I am sorry but the ballistics really do not reall have anything over the 20 VT, only excessive pressures. The 221 FB case is rated at 55,000 PSI by Saami. The 20 VT with the 32 grain BK with a max load of 20.0 gr AA 2200 is generating 60,920 PSI (3046PSI/gr) and 3758f/s or (187.9f.s.gr). With the 32 Nosler BT the max load of 19.6 grains is generating 60,872PSI (3105.9PSI/gr) and 3632f/s (185.3f/s/gr). At 20.6 grains the BT would be running 62,118 PSI and doing 3763f/s/

The 20SCC is reported to be getting 3763f/s (188f/s/gr) with the 32 V-Max running 20.0 grains of AA2200. That is only 5 fps faster than the VT, with the 32 BK, but it will be running pressures closer to those of the VT with the 32 BT as it and the V-max have harder jackets. Giving the 20 SCC the benifit of the doubt and estimate that it is running 3050PSI/gr ,of AA 2200, then the 20.0 grain load will be running at about 61000PSI. This is about where Harold is with the 40 Berger at 19.2 grains of LT 32 and he is on the verge of stretching primers with an over max load.. At 21 grains (3981f/s) the 20 SSC is likely pushing 3075PSI/gr, of AA 2200, or 64,575PSI and on the verge to blowing primers. With 22 grains (4154f/s) at around 68,200 PSI this is a very dangerous cartridge.

Default 20 VarTarg

20 Extreme.. Have you actually shot both and compared them, or just making observations ? I think you would be pleasantly surprised, if you tried one and fired, ran them through a chrony and did some comparisons. Bill K

I havn't shot either but going by the load data that Western Powders has just published for the 20 VT I don't think that I will be surprized at all. If you have both then do some measurements at the web and 0.200" datum and report your findings. Of course you will need a micrometer that measures to 0.0001". If you get more than 0.0003" stretch at the web then you have reached max for the 221 FB case. If you are getting 0.0003" case stretch at the 0.200" datum the loads are hotter than this load.

This is a new LC case measured, 0.3732", at the 0.200" Datum.

This is a LC brass after being fired for the third time with the above posted load. Started at 0.3732" and still measures 0.3732" and you can rest assured that the web had ZERO STRETCH.

I have seen a lot of talk about the wonders of the 20 VT and now the 20 SCC but have and will likely never see results like I posted above. If you can show similar results, in either cartridge, pushing the 32 V-max at over 3722 fps then I would be surprized. It would not really get me too excited when I can get the 32 grain bullets to over 4200 f/s with less than 21 grains of powder and Zero Web Stretch, in my 20 caliber cartridge of choice.
