Is it possible to do a projection for the expected performance figures?
Sounds nice. Ken.

I'm betting the performance will be virtually identical to 6mm Hagar, but Im hoping the Noz brass keeps the primer pockets tight longer.
Dave also said that the 20 Nosler is been adopted by saami and that brass, dies , rifles will be coming out in that caliber. Last edited by Spook; 01-28-2017 at 01:45 AM. |

Spook, what mags are you going to use if your going to use as a repeater?

22 Nosler is designed to use 6.8SPC mags. Its basically a necked down 6.8 SPC with a rebated .378" rim. In order to load a 6mm 107 class or 6.5mm 120 bullet to AR mag length, the case needed to be shortened further, thus the Grendel/6mmAR etc.

GrocMax,
The Grendal/6mm AR are off the PPC case. Different animal. Shorter and fatter than the SPC case, it can run the 107's at AR15 mag length if wanted. The 6/22 Nosler may approach Hagar velocities but I think the shoulder is further back so less capacity. If using an AR15, you won't be able to run the 105 class bullets at mag length without significantly impinging on the powder space. In a bolt rifle with greater than 2.25" mag box there shouldn't be a limit to seating depth. I run a 6mm PDK which is the SPC necked to 6mm and shoulder moved about .050" forward and improved to 30 degree shoulder. I use 87gr HPBT at mag length and the 105/107 are a single load proposition. The PDK is pretty close to the Nosler version and is a capable cartridge. In an AR I don't think the 22 Nosler has an advantage because SPC bolt heads are cheap and available. But it does open up access to all the .223 face bolt action rifles out there without requiring rifle mods as long as the fatter case feeds. |

Will a 223 mag work for this in a bolt action with the feed lips modified? I'm not for sure I ever seen a 6.8 specific mag for a bolt action.
