Thanks Harold. Any difference in the Berger 52 grain match varmint vs. the 52 match target bullets that you know of? I have both plus a bunch of target 55's. What power were you using in the chart? About the only powder that guys seem to favor is the one I don't have, RL7. Thanks and I appreciate everyone's advice. I just finished prepping 200 Norma's & went ahead & prepped 100 of the R-P nickeled brass just because it's so dang pretty. If I ever decide the powder, I'll be loading this weekend. Everybody, have a safe great weekend ahead,
Jim D

Default 222 Bullet and Powder

In my old 40X Reloader 7 worked best with a 50 gr TNT. Throat erosion and a factory long throat resulted in going to a longer shank bullet to get 0.015 off jam. Now using 50 gr Nos BT and Rel 7 with 2015 coming up next when the Rel 7 runs out. It is still my favorite sage rat and pd gun.

50 V-Max (Z-Max) and H322 works well in my bench rifle. 40 gr. V-Max/ Blitzking and 8208 in a PD rifle also shoots very well (both 14 twist). Many good combinations.

".....it if won't shoot the Berger 52 with weighed charges of IMR 4198, it probably won't shoot......."

N133 or H322 would be my top 2 picks from the powders you have on hand. AA2015 is my go-to in 2 different barrels.

FWIW, I've shot 40 gr. V-Maxes in a .222 700 VLS for years with great results. Custom bullets in 52 gr, i.e., Cheek, BIB's, etc. have always shot better.

Very easy to tune round............

I do have to note, the 50 Vmaxes shoot quite good in my Sako's.

Default .222

With any 50 Gr. bullet its hard to go wrong with close to 20 Gr. of RL7
