Martini cadet 219 zipper brass forming
Hi all I'm waiting on delivery of my newest martini it's made by well known (in Australia) gunsmith don black it's in 219 zipper
Wondering about brass making I know I can use 3030 brass it's just a lot of work 25-35 sounds a bit easier but hard to get in Australia Was thinking 5.6x52R (22 savage hp ) looks very close to 219 zipper I can get 5.6x52R brass hear from Norma and S and B Has anyone dun this before for the standard 219 zipper ??? Cheers brett |

219 zipper
I have Martini's in 219 Zipper and 25-35 and use 30-30 brass but I use a 2pc case forming die set. If you have a 25-35 FL set that's about the only I can think of you might be able to do it. With case forming dies it was simple but the dies weren't easy to find.

I have three 219 Zippers and as a result own a set of RCBS 30-30 to 219 Zipper forming dies. If you're located in the US, I'll loan you the set for the price of postage.

Thanks for the reply chuck
I mite have to get some forming dies for necking down 3030 do you trim and neck turn after forming from 3030 ? I was just thinking that 22 savage HP is already just about done I was reading on the net that it uses a 227"-228" bullet and a 3030 for the parent case so if the length is rite it mite work Was thinking that someone on hear mite have already tried it ? |

I have two Zippers. I form from 30-30 brass because of availability and economy. I also have a Winchester M94 in 25-35 so I have done the forming from 25-35 to 219 Zipper. Obviously 25-35 to Zipper is simple, just a resize and a trim. I think when forming from 30-30 brass, cases lasts longer. You can form 30-30 to Zipper with 7-30 Waters dies and 25-35 dies and finally of course 219 Zipper dies. I've not had to turn necks on formed 30-30 brass in my Marlin lever or single shot.
