Default Magnetospeed ?

I have heard that the magnetospeed doesn't work with the 17 calibers. Anyone have any experience with that?

I've used it with .17HMR rifles and pistol, .17HM2 rifles, and .17 Fireball rifles, bullet weights 15 to 30 gr, never had a problem.

I think they are limited to 3900fps. If you are looking at hot 17's, they might be too fast to read. I have a Chrony Gamma Master, and it does not have a problem, at least at 4100fps, with with proper lighting.

Default Magnetospeed ?

I have no problems using mine with my 17 calibers. Like with any of the small caliber, just line up the barrel unit correctly. I even can read FPS over 4000, so don't worry about that issue. Bill K

I've had and used a Magnetospeed chronograph since they first hit the market and I've used it, successfully, on everything from 17 HMR to my largest centerfires. They are not only very easy to use, but setup time is literally only a couple of minutes.

I know the LabRadar chronograph has a max velocity limit of 3900, but I'm not sure the Magnetospeed chronograph has a max velocity limit.

My bad, and thanks for the correction. I was thinking of the LabRadar.

The magnetospeed has worked great for me with 4 different .17 caliber rifles with velocities exceeding 4300fps. It's easy to setup, use, and access your data. My only gripe is that my unit does become loose on tapered barrels after multiple firings and should be checked for tightness.
