Anyone have Premium grade JD equipment? Few years ago I told my JD dealer the reason they came out with it was to keep the service department busy and he wasn't kidding when he agreed.
Now there is a fight going on over 'right to repair' and it could be significant beyond just Ag. JD opinion is the owner of the tractor is only leasing the software needed to make it run and must use them to fix problems. There's folks who differ; you own the equipment you own everything. It used to be that in order to keep your car's warranty you had to bring it to the dealer for service; now all you have to do is keep your receipts for oil and filters.
Don't know if this has gotten to the level of going to court. It could knock out the techies claim that they own all the information flowing through their products and that might even include the credit card companies.
