Default 357 Maximum!

I just finished this 357 Maximum rifle and I believe it is now, The ULTIMATE 357 Maximum!

I know this is not a small caliber but, since some of you liked my barrel stubbed builds, I thought I'd share this one. I hope you like it...

Here is a list of specs on this build -

Twist rate: 1-14"...

Barrel length is 25" + 1 1/2" for the muzzle brake - 26 1/2" overall length...

Barrel diameter: 1.200"...

Premium trigger job, Bellm oversize hinge pin, Bellm heavy duty springs...

Stock set from Tony Gettel....

Looks great. I don't know why the .357 Max doesn't get the credit it deserves?

Default got a G2 18" MGM barrel....

and it shoots very well. Since the Contender is so compact I wish it was a 22" or longer barrel as it would still be handy to carry. The Max is a very good single shot round . Ruger should stretch their 77/357 out to accommodate it! The standard gun can be reamed to max and. 'first round' can be a Max with Magnums in the magazine.

I've had several handguns chambered for 357Max/Supermag. It's a real good cartridge. Unfortunately, idiot Rick Jamison did his hatchet job and it was doomed. I think it would be great in a long gun.

I was interested in a 357 Max that a buddy bought at a local gunshow, a Ruger No.1A in 357 Max that was reamed out from the original 357 Mag. He hadn't had it for less than a month or so and sold it before I got a chance to shoot it. Apparently they are in demand for cast bullet shooters, and he was made an offer he couldn't refuse.

How fast will it toss a 180gr bullet from the rifle?

I have a .414 SuperMag but haven't fired it yet.

Thumbs up

David,
Very nicely done!!!

Tony,
You picked up a real desireable piece there. 7414's are few and far between.
