I have a Cooper 6x45 that was a special order 10 twist and it really likes 70-75 grain bullets. Haven’t tried any heavier but have gone down to 60 grain with success.

FYI, my .243 absolutely loves the 70gr Sierra Blitz King.

I had a 6mm Creedmoor built a few months ago to specifically shoot the middle weight 6mm/.243 bullets. I used a 9tw on that build and shoot the Nosler 70gr Ballistic Tip. It shoots those extremely well. I figured with my 9tw I should be able to shoot up to the high BC 95 grainers.

Remember, twist rate requirements aren't just about bullet weight as not all bullet weights require the same minimum twist rate.

My originally 1:9 twist stabilized the 95gr SMK... I felt that this was the upper limit and just barely.

That sounds about right. I figured the Berger 95gr VLD would be pretty much the limit of what I'd be able to stabilize and still get the full BC of the bullet.

Muznz, just out of curiousity, but why not just build a 243 Win or 6mm Creedmoor? Do you have a 223 action you're trying to use and you don't want to get away from that or is there another reason?

Not saying a 6-223 is a bad choice and if that's what you want, more power to you, but it seems like it'd be a little anemic with 85 grainers as a hunting cartridge but maybe whatever you're pointing it at doesn't take much to kill.

I mean no ill intent, just curious is all.

i have a 223 a 80s bdl with a trued action timmney trigger
fallow deer does and feral goats arnt hard to kill at smart ranges with smaller cals
hence 85s ive always wanted a wildcat and 6mm-223 fits the bill as to common components simple loading etc
funnily enough im not a 223 fan yet 6mm-223 appeals 🤔🙂
i hunt farms with bush edges so could be out shooting hares n rabbits etc yet chances of goats n deer

The first notable wildcat that was created after the 223 was introduced was the 6x45, which became a favorite of benchrest competitors. It was king of the hill until the 6PPC arrived on the scene.

If you are planning to use the heavier bullets (80gr - 90gr) then you might want to consider boosting the powder capacity of the case by either Ackley Improved or ... the simplest improvement is go with a 6TCU (standard dies and reamers are available).
