Default At 200 yards

That way, it is pretty much point and shoot out to about 250 yards.

Mostly it depends at what range you'll be shooting on hunting fields at game or varmints etc.

I set my varmint guns to hit 2" high at 100, big rifles 5 1/2"-6" high. They're hitting right where I can count on them when hunting this way. Much of that is because I PRACTICE a LOT with all of them and KNOW where they'll hit.

The big stuff will be 19" low at 425yds, that's where the longest target board is set for some reason. And a foot low at ONLY 400yds.

The varmint rifles will be good for 400yds IF I hold
"a height high on p/dogs." IF: 10mph breeze, just hold a 'height' up wind and should be right in there. At least thats' how I do it and when I've been doing a LOT of such shooting it's proven very effective. I'm two yrs since popping the last cap now though so I'll have to relearn it all.

Everyone has their own ideas of course. But, experience will teach you how you should do it where you shoot.
Wish you well.

I'm shooting 25 gr vmax. I have mine 1-1.5 high at 100 yards, which is dead on at 200 yards.

With my .17 CF's - zero'd at 225 works for me with the 20gr. Vmax and the 25Vmax. That's 3,925fps and 3,640fps respectively and at 1 3/8" high at 100(meters) for both. I get same poi at 100, which puts them both on the 2nd mil dot at 400 (yards) which is about the furthest shooting we get nowadays.

100 meters is 109yards. The difference in zero between that and 100yards is not enough to measure (with my groups)

With my 17 Fireball shooting the 25 VMAX with a stiff load of Benchmark, I am 1.5" @ 100 and only 1.3" low at 300. Thats works excellent on Pdogs out to 300, just have to figure in the windage.

Same here 1 1/2 high at a 100 on everything. any rifle I grab is real close to the same POI out to 300ish. Farther than that and I have POI's + or - written on a sticky on the bell of the scope.
I hate that thinking part .
