It hit 75 degrees last Wednesday and my employer has been after me to get back to his farm to reduce his Groundhog population. I walked up around his circular drive to were one has been making appearances from under the Arborvitaes. Nothing so I worked down the lane alongside the barn and spot one at 95 yards chowing down on the new Winter Wheat crop. I eased up to the gate with my CZ 452 Varmint chambered in .17 M2 and knelt to use a rung for a rest. When it presented a frontal shot I found its chest in the Leupold 12X crosshairs and broke the trigger. It rolled and gave me a tail salute then rolled around a bit, jumped up and ran for a small patch of woods were I typically setup. I proceeded to walk to my hide, a downed tree at the edge of the small wood patch with a limb to sit on and another higher to rest my gun, sit down and I see it right under the log a couple feet from, dead as a doornail! I had no other takers but sure was nice weather for hunting in October. Last year we had a big snow storm on 10/29 and now we are expecting Sandy, crazy weather for sure!

Nice! Don't you just love it, when a plan comes together?
Thanks for sharing. Larry
