Hornet brass quality control issue
I have a 22 Hornet coming and so I've been gathering components and dies. My 300 pieces Remington 22 Hornet brass arrived today and as Ive never before handles Hornet brass, I opened a bag to take a look at it. The flash hole on the first case I examined was off center in the case head.....,way off. The next four I pulled from the bag were exactly the same. I have contacted Remington as I bought them on their web page, and hope they will take them back.
I found some Privi Hornet brass and ordered another 300 pieces of it. Has anyone else had this issue with Remington brass? |

Never noticed that with any of my hornet brass, just treat the neck gentle, as most are thin and easy damaged.

You see this on brass occasionally. Remington should take it back no problem. You will like the Privi brass.

I use Nosler and Privi. They both do well, the competition seater has eliminated my problem with fragile necks on the 22 Hornet. The weather here SW of Pendleton is almost nice to go fly a few dozen Hornets!

Which competition seater did you acquire?

It's hard to beat a Wilson inline seater and inline neck bushing dies for a Hornet.

My competition seater is an RCBS, as most of my dies are as well. It has been a game changer for me, I use it with 22 Hornets, 218 Bee, 221 Fireball , 223 and 22-250.

Off center?
Shucks, try WIN bagged brass and you'll likely find 1-5 per 50 bag with no holes at all.

The brass for the Hornets is certainly not Lapua or ADG level quality and I sure wouldn't complain if my Hornady 17 Hornet brass was, but, since my little Hornets aren't really what I'd consider long range rifles the brass that is available is good enough for minute of sage rat out to 300-ish yards. If there's much wind those tiny little bullets get danced around pretty good and if I miss it's generally not because of the brass quality.
