Fireball & NTX
Hi,
Anyone using Hornady 35 grain NTX with Lil’gun in their 221 Fireball? Wondering about performance on critters up to fox size. Tia, Ken.

Ken: I have used it in the 223 R and 22-250, with other powders other than Lil gun.
I explodes small ground squirrels and even opens up rock chucks (Marmots). On coyotes it enters and really gels the inside, no exit, unless I hit them in the head. It is a pretty explosive bullet from what I have seen/used in on. |

Holy Cow Batman, 35gr NTX in a 22-250 at the speeds it would be capable of, just guessing but 4400fps probably isn't out of the question, that has got to be spectacular to watch those impacts or does it happen so dang fast you don't get a chance to even enjoy it.

Thank Bill,
These NTX are very accurate (3/16"@100) in my Hornet so I think I'll give them a go on the range first before trying on critters in the Fireball. Perhaps won't be as dramatic in the FB as in your 223 and especially 22-250 but they will probably get the job done. Was hoping someone might have some figures for the FB, but no big deal to start out with my 40 grain loads. Thanks again Bill.
