They probably will work, maybe not as well as the Rem 7.5 with higher pressure loads, so start midrange on loads and work up slow. I would try the WSR primer first. Bill K

Thanks Bill, i'll start at the bottom end and just try and get on target to get an idea of accuracy.

I bought this rifle from our old friend Bill Oviatt, its taken 12 months to get here due imort/export stuff ups so he never got to hear how it performs

That will be a rifle to keep, just due to the fact that Bill is no longer with us. Never met him face to face, but emails and such he seemed like a very fine gentleman and for sure a fellow shooter. Bill K

We talked all the time by email, Bill invited my wife and I to visit with him and Cath should we make it over, but it never came to be, he was very happy to share ideas and knowledge and yes the rifle will stay with me and then move to my son

Agree with Bill K on using WSR primers as the cup is a little thicker than standard Rem. or CCI primers. Per Hodgdon data, pressures are not that high with maximum CFE loads and 40 or 50 gr. bullets; approx 46000 CUPS. With my FB and 40 gr. bullets I got the best accuracy with the max CFE load(20.8 gr.). I used Fed. 205M primers. Accuracy steadily improved as I increased the load to max.

I prefer the 7 1/2’s but have used cci small rifle primers with no issues.

I also found my best accuracy up towards the max load. Unfortunately, that load fouled the barrel too quickly and quite badly. I backed off from 20.4 g 1680 to 18.8 g and now it is much better. I can’t recall the velocity numbers but I do remember they did not drop as much as I anticipated.

I have a 1:7 twist and use 40gr vmaxes or 42 Calhoons.

I have used WSR, Rem 7.5 and CCI BR4 in my FBs without issues. Haven't tried the CFE, but my FBs really like RL7 or AA2200 with 40gr VMAX or NBT.

Default 221 fb

I’ve only used 7.5 primers. Have found Lil Gun works well in my 221fb rifle.

The .221 Fireball is by far, MY FAVORITE ROUND!! 5 shot groups that can be covered with a dime are the norm. Nothing but CCI Small Rifle Primers with NEVER any issues. All "mid range loads" so my brass lasts a long time.
Accurate Arms 2230 powder after I finally ran out of the AA 2230C.
Tried Lil Gun a time or two but keep going back to the Accurate Arms. It just works.
