Like most I began with a rimfire. My first varmint rifle purchased in 1980 or 81 was a Ruger 77V chambered for the 220 Swift. My second purchased a year later a Ruger No.1B. On this rifle I vacillated between the 222 and 223. Ended up with a 223 because one could actually be found. Didn't get a 222 Remington until the late 80's or early 90's. A post 64 Winchester very accurate. Had it about 10 years and it went by the way. I currently have two both CZ 527's one a varmint and one a full stock and both with the Mexico import marks. The little CZ action makes way more sense for the 222 Rem than the model 70's.
