Default Blemished Bullets

Midsouth Shooters Supply just listed a bunch of blemished bullets. Seemed kind of pricey this time around.

Hey it's Christmas time.
Price's on everything is marked up this time of year.
Some folks will buy them up, just watch.

On another forum, mentioned they had blemished 270gr. Hornady RN's for over $100.00 per box, instead of $24.95.

Why not just watch Nosler's ( Shooting Pro Shop.com) and deal with them on blemished bullets. Usually very far in pricing. Bill K

I'm convinced that "blemished bullets" is just a marketing ploy. I haven't found any blemishes on any I have ever bought.

Blemished bullets do exist. I the past, over the years, I bought a bunch of factory seconds and blemished bullets. Usually, they were a tad out of spec for bullet weight, OAL or HP size. Many times they were stopped before being cleaned for factory firsts that are boxed up. They still shot great and a couple of hours in the tumbler shined them right up. I used factory boxed bullets whether they were in red, green, black or yellow boxes for any competition and the seconds/blemished for practice and targets.

I’ve shot Hornady blemished bullets for years now. They mark them with a number that correlates to what the blemish is. Most of the time it nothing and they shoot very well.. They run such tight +\- that the average shooter may never notice it on his shooting.

That said I bought some blend from like midway or midsouth (forget might of been 6mm bullets and either Speer or Sierra ) anyhow they wasn’t nearly as cheap as Hornady and what a shock when I opened the box!!!! Long extruded lead wire still coming out the end of the jackets!!! I mean I saved all the extra lead to make 5mm mag bullets with but wow! It was crazy how nasty looking those blems are. Looked like me trying to make bullets when I was 12 years old lol

Speaking of blemished bullets and/or brass. Just received a email notice that Shooters Pro Shop has various bullets, brass and loaded ammo on sale, right now, with a discount too boot. Check it out, you might see something you want and need as a decent price. Bill K

i.e. I found 140 grain 6.5 bullets, with the discount at 19.50 per 50, not bad at all.

I've never found a bad bullet from blems I've bought.

I have bought several bags of Win brass from the store at times
and found up to five without primer fire holes punched thru per bag of 50.
Nearly every bag I've opened had at least one.
