Hi flyrod,

as I understand the function, the spring that we are discussing, does not appear to help the alignment, which is determined by the tolerances of the sleeve vis-a-vis the die body and the seating stem.

Kindest regards,

M

Maybe I understand better now.... looks identical to my custom built 17 Jet die.

Seems to me gravity is good enough to do the exact same thing(from my narrow POV).

The only thing I see is that it appears Redding’s sleeve goes clear the the rim where as Hormady’s sleeve goes just past the shoulder. And depending on how close your dies are it may require additional effort if it’s a snug fit???

Probably wrong just aWAG.

Another chunk of barrel on left and finished die on the right.
Nice work! I miss being able to make some chips!!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned C&H dies. They have an incredible list of wildcat cartridges in their die list. I've been using them for obsolete metric cartridges. I needed a set of 6.5x58R Sauer and a bullet swaging die, .264 to .260 and they had them in stock for an extremely attractive price.

They are a good source for wildcat dies, and dungheap mentioned them back on Page 1..........

Redding and CH4D are go-to sources for odd dies, if you want to pay the price.

You know how it is when you get old, by the time you get to page four you can't remember what was on page one.
