NoZ- you have a great little case design, keep developing them. Have you ever figured how many hrs you have in this design.

Really not much at all in the grand scheme of things, and there have certainly been things I've spent more time on without any results. Brass conversion is much faster now than it was in the beginning, I would estimate that I could probably make 100 cases in 2-3 hours now. I've made some little tools to make reloading a little quicker as well, so loading (or reloading) those same 100 cases is probably about 45 minutes to an hour of work. (A little more elapsed time, since I drop the fired brass into an ultrasonic cleaner.) |

Ok, since you've posted pic's of the rounds. How about sharing your tooling with us too? Have you gotten into crimping the case mouth a touch? That just might settle the accuracy problems down. Make 'em all the same that way. Don't want much, just a touch. Good discussions, don't give up on it, you've got too much in the game to just quit now. I measured a 17M2 today comparing to a .25acp and notes I've made of your lil toy. Not a whole lot of difference really. Not near as much as many of our other conversions have been. You've got a dandy cartridge so far, tweak it a bit now. Say: to .17 and you'd have a market here for us guys that cry having to pay the price for 17M2 and HMR ammo. OF course the 17VR and VHA have replaced the HMR's except guns are more costly.

Some of my tools are on loan to a friend who's working on building himself a ladybug, as soon as everything's back in the shop, I'll post up photos of the tooling that I've used. Nothing terribly ground breaking, but it's a combination of tooling that's worked for me. I actually have a rifle that I'm planning to build into a 17 caliber version of the ladybug. Unfortunately I have to make a real chamber reamer before I can finish that project... and necking dies... and get some .17 bullets... and I'm sure some other stuff... but it's on the to-do list for sure. |

I've found it's mighty handy to have a length of 7/8"x14 all thread for die making. Bought mine from Grainger, fairly cheap but, 15 yrs ago maybe.
D reamers made from drill rod work good too, just lube 'em good and run slow speed, or turn the chuck by hand.
