8208 Powder
Has anyone on here used this in the 17 or 221 FB, or anything else for that matter. I can get hold of 8208, but the smallest jug is 8 LBs. I am a little reluctant to buy that much without having ever tried it or seen much from guys using it in real world shooting.

Wish I could find 2 jugs, even 3..always hoarding for the future
I've read too many good things to not want to have this in my supply. It''s versatile and most least temperature sensitive powder out there. You'll have a great fun experimenting with it in different calibres and then sharing and comparing your results. Last edited by AlbertaAl; 01-30-2010 at 12:11 PM. Reason: more info added |

I also want to try it but can't find the 1 lb containers. Hope IMR makes more....before the benchrest guys steal it all. I was reading on benchrest.com that one shooter bought 96 lbs of it. Most likely to keep the same lot number.

96 lbs
96 lbs is alot of powder for one guy.
There must be some truth to its exceptional performance. Sure hope us "Alberta shooters" get a sniff of this stuff I'll be looking forward to seeing more shooting results posted by the users. |

I just tried 8208 XBR in my 20 Tac. My go to load for my custom Savage Mod. 12 is a 39 gr. Blitz King coated over 24.7 gr. RL-10x.This load gives me 3860 fps. 26.6 grs of 8208 gave me 3880 fps with about the same accuracy. It looks like the sweet spot is going to be close to 26.5 grs of 8208. This is close to max or is max for my rifle. I'll know more when I see how the primer pockets hold up. I'm hoping the 8208 will prove to be more temp stable and not have as much lot to lot variation.

Well...I just backordered an 8 lb jug from Powder Valley...hope that I get it out of the next batch that they receive. I've been using Viht N-133 in 20 PPC and hope that the IMR stuff will take it's place...
