Good news for those shooting an old classic.
I just wonder why they chose such a vapid velocity and bullet style. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, eh? |

Ruger
Keep the pressures down I have no problem with it. And I liked that bullet in the first loading if the 5mm ammo. I liked it better than the 38gr power lokt! Glad to see it making another come back

This good new for those of us who cling to this little cartridge.
Thanks for the update Eric, I bet you have been working hard on getting this back to the market. Lowell

MSRP of $30 a box? That's getting a little steep ....

Ruger
I've paid a lot more than that for a box of the the orginal Rem 5mm ammo!

Hoping the street price will be better...
I am glad it will be offered just the same.Been thinking about building a Contender carbine for this to go along with my 10” pistol barrel, glad to hear that they are building a new facility to make more, would love to see Ruger and or CZ make a new rifle in 5mm.Can not help but think if Hornady got in the game with a poly tipped bullet the 5mm would really get resurrected. Then Winchester could compete with a 5mmWSM

Savage
Now that it looks like the got the pressure down, it would be a good time for somebody like savage to come out with a new rifle! No new extractors or bolt design needed. The only problem is They's still a lot of the old
Remington high pressure stuff out there. |

A 32gr bullet at 2200 is the same muzzle performance of 22 WMR light bullet stuff. The skinnier 5mm bullet will give a better BC, but will it beat out a WSM?
I would like to have seen a Vmax type loading, but I guess with the tube mag rifles out there, it puts manufacturers in a tight spot bullet wise. |
