Default 221 FB seating die

I have a LE Wilson 221 FB seating die and it works very good, but it is a slow process. Are the seating dies from Redding(comp. seater), Forster(ultra) or RCBS(gold medal) as good as the Wilson?

I think this is just whatever you get used to. I seat most everything with Wilson dies and an arbor press for the past 25 years, so I'm very familiar with the process. I occaisionaly load with traditional dies in a press and it feels kinda awkward but I think that is only because I don't do it much anymore. All the dies mentioned will load good ammo so just take your choice.

I use the Hornady New Dimension dies and add on their micrometer stem. Makes seating depths very easy and simple.

Default seating die

Although I still use Wilson dies for loading at the range, I have switched over from RCBS, Redding and Hornady seating dies to Vickerman. Not that expensive. I load mostly 17 and 20 caliber and A Vickerman seater is much easier with these small bullets and maintains as good a concentricity as the others.

When I started loading 22 Hornets I mangled a few cases. My friend gave me an RCBS Competition seater die, haven't mashed a Hornet case since. That is the only brand I have experience with but it works for me.

One more vote for the dies with the window for loading 17 and 22 Calibre bullets. WAY easier on the fingers than the conventional feed from the bottom style seating dies.

Vickerman has dies listed on a website these days.
