Hey Daryl and you other guys up north.
What's the deal? Snow this morning then
cleared up. Now real foggy and just wet again.

Well snow here also George, and looks like will continue, even tho it is light and the sky is overcast and all. Oh well, that is the time of year and it occurs here every year. So far we have not had the zero temps, hanging around the 16 above to a high of around 40. I like that. Bill K

Blustery here in the Oregon Trail country, too windy to shoot but still above freezing. I hope all have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!

Other side of the divide we had about 8" yesterday and blustery. Teens this morning and sunny. I'll shovel the rest today or tomorrow celebrating Thanksgiving per CP-USA regulations.

Think it was Monday.

1am temp was 50F, at 1pm 34.

About 5pm today the bank said it was 50 again
and dry. No wind either.

Just heard from co/Spgs Mike "saw" some flakes
on the way to work about 6:30am.
Pike's Peak is well covered over night.

Where Barrett?

Barrett:

Tragic true story:

When I was long haul trucking for C&H Trans/Dallas. in '75 this happened.

I'd gotten home about midnight, couple hours later the Term Mgr called.

"need you to go to the West side chain station on Monarch Pass and pick up the trailer.
"check it out good, but, don't adjust anything, meet us at the barrel
springs at 8am.

"Had a couple new drivers from Texas hauling big I beams, had a runaway
and laid it on it's side in front of barrel springs. Soon as they laid it over
hit an old Scout, killed grandpa and the grand dau, couple hours later guys
went down to get the vin# 400 feet and found grandma still living.
Don't know if she'll make it or not". I never heard anything later.

I aired the brakes up and opposite's locked up EMPTY = 50% brakes.
When we got all the iron loaded NONE would lock up!
NO brakes at all and I didn't have a Jake brake.
I came down that hill to Pueblo mighty slow, maybe 10mph.

Brakes so far out of adjustment I thought the rods would pull out of the cans.
Met both CO and Feds at the yard. "show us what you found"

The driver got 20+ yrs in the pen. He'd made ONE run before this, other kid was in the sleeper and his very first run.
They were off route, headed from I think Birmingham to Page AZ to the dam.
They should have run I-20 across to Flagstaff then N on US 89. No business at all to be in CO.

I know what coasting down the west side of that hump would be like!!
They only made it the first three miles til speed got out of control on the long wide curve.
