Default looks awesome Misty

My stock is done, the reamer ordered, my Pierce action is in hand, just waiting to the PacNor barrel to arrive so I can ship it off to the have it chambered. I am so relieved to see that I can get that kind of life out of my brass. Looks like an awesome round for shooting prairie dogs. Thanks for all the work you have done.

Made time today to check my new loads. I was pretty close on my SWAG, this was 9.0grs of 300 MP.

9.2 grs...

Still amazes me every time I shoot it over the chrony, had to believe a pinch of powder can sling a 20gr bullet that fast.

Is it a case full of powder?

I think 300MP is quite a bit faster than 1680, but haven't done extensive testing.

9.0 grs isn't close to a full case. I will try to see how much it will hold when I get some time.

Guess I will have to find a lb of the 300 and give it a try. The reason I ask, I see it being used in the smaller 17's, seems like with good results, but I have enough 1680 to load several thousand rounds of the 17's and it is working very well for me, so I wonder if I should even bother.. You know how it is, I am sure. However part of our hobby is trying new things. Bill K

Bill,

I know John Anderson of the VHM uses 1680, or he did originally. I'm pretty sure it will work. I'd drop him an email and see what he says.
