Default Redrawing Sierra 30 cal 1.155" jackets.

What are members' experiences with redrawing the Sierra 30 cal 1.155" jackets?

I've just started redrawing down to .257 cal using a basic Corbin JRD-1 with pinch-trim, but still comtemplating annealing, washing etc. Just using the little Mitutoyo micrometer I'm measuring 0.0002" maximum wall thickness variance.

I was also surprised at how thin the Sierra 30 cal jackets are. Compared to the J4 30 cal 1.200", they are thinner still.

Yes, at least in my experience, Sierra jackets of comparable caliber and length are thinner walled the J4; due to the single-point trim, as opposed to the (J4) pinch-trim, the former appear thicker.

Is the decimal point (0.002" - red, above) misplaced? That is a LOT of wall variation - is it supposed to be 0.0002"? RG

Used to spend allot of time in my youth re-drawing 5.56 down to .222, what a pain. I would do 200 to 300 at a time. The intensive labor made the term a nickel an hour a reality. The case turning to size would bring tears to an adults eyes but I was a 15 year old kid. I also neck turned same brass with my Forrester attachment all for my Rem 722 in .222. Shot Sierra seconds by the gross, lived 25 miles from Sierra / California. Martin Hull got me the bullets.
