cath8,
How does yours shoot & what powder do you use?
.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .....The fellow I bought it from made life difficult for me that day.
He had a brand new in the box 2003 heavy barrel Anschutz in 17HMR with just gorgeous wood. I paid it no mind except to admire it.

Until!!! Until he emailed me & said, "if you want that Anschutz I'll ship it with the Remington VS and you can have it for $875 shipped & insured". Guess you already know what happened.

Sure wish I knew how to post pictures from my computer. They are both awesome!

Oh no.... I've been actively searching for one here in canada for a looong time. Still haven't found one.
My .17 rem bdl shoots outstanding though.
The 700 v.s. in .17 remington never got up here much. Only heard if one and the guy tore it up when he shot out the barrel and turned if into some oddball chambering.

Default Excess freebore

A friend and I owned a pair of these. I had similar accuracy- 1.5" . He couldn't get under 2" . He determined with a smith's help that the gun had @ 3/8" of freebore. He sent it back and Rem. Didnt touch it. Said it was within specs. Do he sold it. I worked with mi e and later sold it too. I only had @ 3/16" freebore IIRC.

Good luck.

Gary

Here is my load for two 17 Rem Rifles: 700 Classic and a 700BDL Deluxe both with factory barrels, I added H-S Precision Stocks and aftermarket triggers, beside these two changes the rifles are stock.

30 Grain Woodchuck Den Bullets
26.0 gr. IMR4007SSC @ 3701 fps (No Pressure Problems)
Primer: CCI-450
1/4" to 3/8" Groups with both guns.

I always had fliers with IMR4320 powder and 25grn bullets.

Nice find. When those rifles were new I looked at them at a well known vendor at the local gun show. Sweet rifle, I went back the next day to buy one but he was sold out. Have never seen another locally come up for sale.
