Sorry, I missed the $500 limit but you'd be so happy with a SIII and many reticles to choose from.
I don't like 40mm either I like 50mm. Also, I bought 3 First Focal plane scopes & hated them. Would not buy one even if was cheaper. My $2 worth. Jim D |

Thanks to all those who posted.
I ended up with a Nikon 5-25 x 50mm Monarch 5 (it has a 1" tube and fits the rings I have on the rifle). It has the Advanced BDC reticle and I absolutely love the Nikon Spot-On app. I down-loaded the app to my smart phone. Best was the price. Retail for $949, Natchez had it on sale and I had it delivered to my house for $469. I put it on my Kimber Model 84 Longmaster classic. It is zeroed at 200 yards and it has improved my shooting ability. I will continue to evaluate it over the next few months but so far I am very pleased with my purchase. It's great to see a plan come together! Natches runs some great sales.

For prairie dogging strong preference for FFP grids, no touching the knobs, side focus a MUST.
For $500.00 budget take a look at the Athlon line. Right now- scopes, barrels, and bullets we've never had it so good. |
