221 fireball-cfe blk
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I searched & came up empty. Is anyone using the CFE BLK in their 221 FB's? If so, how is accuracy? What bullets & primers? Any downside? I'd appreciate any information. Been studying Hodgdon's load data & thought it might pull double duty for 40 grain 221 FB & for 40 grain 222 Remington. Velocity looks awesome, I hope accuracy comes with it. Thanks,

221 Fb with CFE BLK
My shooting buddy is and it is working very well in his 221, with the 40 grain bullet. Loads are on the Hodgdon Data site. Bill K

Hodgdon data is right on the mark. As usual, work up slowly and in small increments. I just scratched the surface, and thus far, am impressed.

Doesn't appear many are wanting to try CFE BLK & the high velocities. Anything wrong with it that I should know about? Thanks,

I like the CFE-Blk. Worked up a load for my 221FB at 20.5 grs. with the 40gr
Varmeggaddon tipped bullets. Chrono over 3450 fps, a little over 100fps second more than Accurate 1680. Very accurate, as my shooting buddy Bill K will attest to. |

221 Fire ball-CFE BLK
Last trip out, it put the smack on squeeks and they did some fine acrobatics, for sure. Bill K

How long is your barrel? 3450 from a 221 Fireball is pretty impressive.

I will let Varmint Shooter give the exact measurement, when he sees the question, but I believe his rifle is either a 24 or 25 inch barrel. Bill K

The barrel is a 24 inch, Pac-Nor.

VS,
What kind of accuracy (groups) are you getting with the CFE BLK compared to 1680 or other powders you've used? Thanks, Jim D |
