We didn't used to let everybody upload to the site directly... which required everyone to use other image hosting sites. The reason is because I couldn't afford the additional hosting charges for storage and bandwidth for the site... it adds up quickly. I don't remember when, but we turned it back on for some users or user groups (can't remember exactly when). I opened up permissions a little more today, and we just have to see if it becomes a problem.

Thanks again, Ken.

For those of you here wondering, see the Photo test thread above.

Edited to add: I can still get to my photos but I haven't tried posting any from there since I saw photos going away here and other places with the PB notice. After seeing that, I did get all of my photos downloaded into zip files so I have them all in a folder on my desk top. It will take a bit of time to unzip each one, but that will be a good rainy day project.......

Now I'm wondering if PB will freeze all the images and make it impossible to transfer to another hosting site unless you pony up their $400.

Every image posted on the net since 2003 on PB is now basically under conditions I'd call "Ransomware", as that's exactly what it is. I'm guessing their new CEO is probably responsible. Wonder how many folks are bailing as of today?
RIO If this happens you can use the Snipping Tool to capture the photo's and save them back into your computer. You can then upload them to another hosting site. Works in Win 7, 8, & 10. Here's a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayi5-7QPNcA

Default Bye bye Photobucket!

UpNear: Many thanks. As I've had an account at Image Shack for a while now, I'll use it and bail forever from PB. I've got every image there backed up on disc and on my hard drive too. May take some time uploading, but I'm retired and that's one thing I do have.

Image Shack has unlimited storage and 3rd party hosting available for $4/month. I opted for a year to save the hassle, and for that much out of the wallet, it's worth it to me.

No pop-ups, no ads, just a hosting site as it should be. I'm hoping PB suffers from this bogus way of doing business....free and then without any warning whatsoever, locks you up and demands $400. Just ain't right!

At the moment I can still use PB for posting pics but obviously that isn't going to last long.

I've downloaded all my albums from PB (boy was that a pain) and now have to find another hosting site..........which is the best alternative?

One suggestion would be to use Image Shack, which is where I went. Easy to use, unlimited storage and 3rd party hosting for forums. They charge also, but NOT $400/year, but $38/year. Seems much more reasonable, and NO irritating pop-up ads or ads of any kind.

Some others: tinypic.com, picturetrail.com and imgur.com.

IMGUR.com gets a lot of raves and it is very simple to use. No charge.

It is who I use. I originally started with Photo Bucket, their service went to hell so I tried Image Shack but when they went to charging I left them. Imgur has been great, the ads are the price you pay for free service but at least Imgur doesn't have very many of them.

Talking options

There are tons of other image hosting options out there so fotofok can go suk eggs.

There are free sites such as Google drive, Microsoft Live drive, among many many others.
I would just retrieve all my images from fotofok and then delete the entire archive from their site and then replace the entire archive with hundreds of images of a donkey's rear.
