How to sell quantity of guns and gun stuff
Getting a little long in the tooth, and with no heirs, I need to start cutting back. Has anyone walked this path before? If so advice appreciated. Probably have 20-25 rifles, handguns and shotguns in total, lots of ammo, and reloading equipment and supplies.

An idea you may want to try......
If you've ever listened to Tom Gresham's Gun Talk radio show, there is a company called Dury's guns out of San Antonio, TX that buys used guns and will travel anywhere to inspect them and offer to buy. You have to understand that you will be leaving some money on the table because their offer will be somewhere near wholesale but you would be able to sell everything at once.
If you have questions: Phone (210) 533-5431 or (210) 533-5468

There's an auction house here locally that sets aside dates for gun/sporting goods sales. Usually have one every 3-4 months and guns are going WAY above normal asking prices. Yeah, they take a cut (15%???) but it could be more than you sold it for outright if two guys really want what you have. Plus you drop them off and pick up a check. No hassle.
For example, here's a list of their upcoming auctions. Maybe there's an auction house near you that does the same? https://www.reddingauction.com/sched.htm Charlie |

Charlie that's what I was going to say too.
I've bought a few thru them. Easy to deal with. Trouble is: They are a mighty long way from Colorado

Where you are might be an issue for some, but if you look around your area you can probably find a gun shop that will possibly buy the guns.
Today used gun are like used cars, and even though you'll only be getting near wholesale, you'll be out of the picture entirely because the gun shop/FFL licensee will be required to immediately record them into their inventory. Whenn they sell them., the will be sold through the normal 4473 process. If sold on consignment, which is another possible option, when sold the gun shop will go through the usual 4473 process and they will actually sell the guns for you. This option will likely raise the selling price considerably and closer to retail so that you can afford paying a reasonable consignment fee to the gun shop and still make good money. One bright thought is that wholesale today is far higher than it was even a year ago. -BCB

I have sold over a dozen guns in the last two years, all the n consignment at my local GS. They charge me %15, you name your price. If it is out of line + or - they will tell you, the more you make the more they make. Out of that dozen, I broke even on one, the rest sold for more than I paid for them and more than I would pay.
I wish I had a dozen CZ’s, I would auction every one of them. |

CZ 527 17 Hornet Varmints are going for almost $2,000 on GB now.
I won't sell my 527s, but that sure got me paying attention. FWIW, I had two fifty round packs of new Hornady 17 Hornet brass I put out on GB, they sold for $200 plus shipping. Someone told me you can't get a G2 Contender frame for under $800 right now. |

I haven't gotten a reply yet as to which outfit told my local dealer
the only way he could sell used, or consignment guns any longer would be to take out a pawn shop license. So now he's stuck with only selling new guns and doing the paperwork on transfers. He doesn't want to get that type license as he'd be required to take in any pawns. For many years much of his business was selling both. I don't know if that's Pueblo, State of Colorado, or the Feds. Better check that out before you go hauling a load of guns to a store. Soon as I get an answer I will update this. See below: UPDATED INFO

I'm not sure of the legality of it but if you know someone that is TECH savvy have them list the items on GB. Sure GB charges a fee but if advertised correctly you'll get far more from any local gun shop. Shops like Drury buy up mass collections and do exactly what I'm suggesting. They sell them on GB where Millions of buyers gather to bid their hearts away. Like previously said, a CZ 527 in 17 Hornet is bringing close to $2K right now. But that's ONLINE!!!!! Wish I would have 5 or 6 of those laying around right now. I have sold on GB before and I always come out on the winning end.
