I don't think it has the capacity to drive those at a reasonable speed. I know velocity dropped off quickly even with a 55gr bullets. It's a different animal. it shines with the sub 50gr bullets.

Thought Id put a teaser picture up. Brian inquired about doing a 22 Mamba AR so I turned a savage .223 barrel into a AR barrel by cutting the old chamber off and profiling in the gas block/ tenon for an AR extension. Hope to have it up and running by this weekend to do some fire forming before I port the gas system.
Oh yeah he lives in the republic of CA so has to be "featurless" |

So life has been a real booger to me lately and has seriously delayed things in terms of extra time. Anywhoo I have finally had a chance to form/ fire form some cases for the 22 Mamba (.223 short improved)
Getting 17.3gr with commercial cases and 17.1 with LC military brass. I bought a lb of CFE BLK to try in it with the 53gr nosler varmageddon. Hope to have some solid #'s by the end of this coming weekend. Test bed will be the 21" AR pictured above followed shortly with my 5.5" SBR barrel. It's looking like these will feed reliably from standard AR mags with spitzer bullets. I haven't opened up the gas yet to test cycling as I want to get a benchmark on velocity/pressure signs first. |

22 Mamba AR Lives!
It's alive, it's alive! Just finished assembling the 22 Mamba AR rifle, the first of its kind. George built a pistol, first of its kind.
Lower AeroPrecision (Kiwi Custom Guns); Lower Parts Kit (Midway AR-STONER AR-15 Customizable Lower Receiver Part Kit); Two stage trigger (LaRue Tactical); Barrel (Savage Take-off); Grip, Stock, Hand Guard, Bolt Carrier Group (Misc Suppliers); Scope CLife 6-24x50 (Amazon); Caldwell Brass Catcher (Amazon). Issues with assembly. Had to file out a small amount of material from the front and rear pivot pin holes on the lower to fit. Tons of YouTube videos to help lower assembly, George assembled the upper. Range next week for fire forming cases and maybe a revisit for first load testing.
