Default 17 Hornet w/15.5 load data???

Now that the Hornady 15.5gr NTX bullet has been out for awhile, I'm curious to see/hear what everyone is using and what's working for them.

I am loading two powders with that 15.5 NTX in my 17 Hornet.

12.3 gr of CFE Blk and 12.6 gr of AA 1680. Consistent 1/2-3/4 inch at 100 yds. Have yet to chrono them. The do a number on squeeks and Rock chucks. Bill K

11.2 grs. of 4227 along with a Fed 205 M primer is working really good. Consistent 5 shot groups in the mid to high 2s. Really impressed with the accuracy of the NTX bullets. Tried the Lehigh Defense non-lead and they don't come close.
Have not checked the vel. but the same load with a 20gr. Berger is a little over 3700.

I gave the LeHigh 17's a go also, they work pretty well, for me, up to around 100 yrds, but beyond that they just fell off and the accuracy failed.
But when you hit a critter, they sure did tear them up. I will stick with the 15.5 NTX, as they are accurate and do the job also. Bill K

I talked to Hornady earlier today to see if they had any updated load data for the 15.5gr NTX bullet in their 17 Hornet. The Tech I talked to wasn't aware of any load information they had done with this bullet in their 17 Hornet, but was going to talked to other Hornady Techs and get back to me, I'm still waiting for that phone call.

It was kind of funny because he wanted to act like this 15.5gr NTX was some kind of new bullet, until I reminded him they've been using this bullet in their 17 Hornet loaded ammo for a few years now.

I have read were others in talking with rep's from Hornady and even some other companies get mixed revues or comments. Makes you wonder if they are all on the same thought or knowledge within their departments and what does go on. Bill K

With the NTXs 12.4 of CFE Black with F 205M has been best in my CZ Varmint. (interesting that it is also my best load with 20 v-maxs and nosler black tips).

I have a friend that loads 12.4gr CFE BLK w/20gr Vmax in his CZ 527 Varmint 17 Hornet and that load shoots exceptionally well for him too.

I'm glad I didn't hold my breathe for Hornady to call me back, because I'm still waiting for that call.
