+ 1 on the Pelican . Had one and can't imagine anything stronger . Take a look at their Site .... I think they even drive vehicles over that Case . If you have Arthritic fingers however , the Latches which take a lot of force , will drive you crazy ! This is a heavy Case , but the one I had .... had small wheels so it was easy to move around even when loaded .

+2, +3 & +4 on the Pelican Case. I bought a large double case a couple of years ago and they are pricy. I visited the Pelican web site and copied the cases model number that I wanted into Google search and found a place that was half the street price of anywhere else. Can’t remember name of place, sorry.
Shop around, you’ll be amazed at the price differences.

Pelican case
Thanks to all of you for the endorsement of Pelican. I'd gladly take any of you along but the spot has been reserved by my wife. The family that shoots together, stays together.

Pelican makes cases under different names, like Browning for instance. Same case, different price. Maybe higher or lower priced. As others said...shop around. But they are THE best case on the market.

Only way to go for airline travel is a TuffPak. This is a hollow "tube" that you put rifles into the case using your soft cases. You then pack the heck out of it with clothing and gear. It serves as a multi-function hard case by allowing the packing of more than just rifles. By doing this, you can eliminate a regular suit case and you also have the soft cases ready for use in Africa without taking up packing space.
This is the case that I used for Africa and have used it domestically too. Depending on soft cases, four are easy and possibly five can fit. I took two rifles to Africa and with the gear packed in as padding, it was perfect. It is extremely stout! It also does not look like a gun case so it does not advertise that guns are in the case. I have even used it for day to day transport. I love mine. http://www.nalpak.com/Tuffpak |

Take a good camera with you. Photograph everything.
Have a safe hunt.

I went to South Africa last year
I went to South Africa last year for the 1st time and was able to get two rifles in a Pelican case. The airlines put a few gouges in the case however, the guns were fine. Very very nice gun case.
A friend purchased another brand case from Gander Mnt, paid a little more for it. TSA broke the key lock and my buddy had to run through the aiprort like OJ Simpson to purchase a TSA approved padlock, we almost missed our flight. Don't get me started on the TSA.... Enjoy your trip, we were treated like kings in South Africa. |
