Default Sunshine = Rock Chucks & 20VT

The snow is finally all gone, the sun is finally out here on the high desert, and the rock chucks and sage rats are running amok. That of course means it's time to grab a rifle and do a bit of a walkabout.

Figured I'd just zip out with Ruby for an hour or so the other morning for some rock pile cruising to see what's up. In that hour I was able to shoot eight chucks from 140 yards to 310 yards. There are some controlled burns going on here, so the sky was smoky and not viable for any decent photography, so only a couple of pics of moribund chucks this time.

My Cooper M38 in 20VT got the nod for the walk: (I was running the VT with 32gr NBT's over 18.5grs of RL-7 for right at 3,700 fps)

Of course Ruby with her Basset Hound nose just HAD to do a scent inspection of the critters:

I got back home in time to clean my rifle and have a second cup of coffee after taking my pup and rifle for a refreshing morning walk.

Way to go Rick. Looks like a good time for all........sans chucks.
Thanks for the report. A 20VT is on my "bucket list"; yours is a beauty.

I video recorded all of my Highpower Rifle matches. Pretty soon I am going to watch them all in reverse order so that I can watch those F Class guys GO HOME and leave us alone so that we can shoot Highpower Rifle.

Default 20 vt

I just returned from a PD shoot. My 20 VT is a Rem XR100 that was rebarreled from .223 to 20VT and a sako extractor added. The barrel is a Shilen. I only took 150 rounds for this gun and shot almost all of them. I took seven rifles and this one for sure had the highest kills per shot ratio.
And the terminal results were excellent.

It looks like Ruby sure fits in with her master, no surprise here.

Great pictures again Rick, glad your season is working out well for you.

And my Sako in 20vt is, like most here, my favorite for flight school, hopefully I'll get my Cooper 20vt back in the fold for next spring's shooting. I might even get the Savage 20vt tube spun on, but I'll have to leave my 17's at home, lol.
