Default Short Magazine in a CZ 527 without bottom metal?

Any one besides Ray Hauver and I thought of a short magazine in a CZ 527.
The magazine fastened to the action and load from the top.
Holds one or two rounds.

I have made a couple single shot CZ rifles with a Marlin trigger guard and no bottom metal in front of the guard.

It sure makes for a clean looking stock.

Most of the time, I have no use for a second or third round,
but it might be nice or at least different. Kenny

I must not have explained this very well.

As in no magazine showing, more like a Remington ADL.

Looks a lot cleaner to me. Kenny

In other words, Kenny, you want a boxed/enclosed magazine i.e. the Rem ADL models, that would also require a solid stock also, would it not ? Bill K

Kenny,

If no need of a second or more rounds, Is a Calhoon Single-shot adapter not what you describe. They are quality, machined steel stock and work quite well. Come in Small (Hornet, Fireball and 222 sized cartridges) and Large (all the other: 223-204-7.62).

Bill

I re-read your OP. and I understand better now what you are indicating....No access through/from the bottom metal, but a shallow internal magazine to load 1-2 rounds through the bolt when pulled back. I have not seen or heard of anything like this in the CZ 527. But, the older Brnos (ZKK 601) had this type of magazine with the double-set triggers. Great design, and they carry a high-$ price tag when you can find one for sale.

If you have an easy design for a 527, I think you would have something...I know I would like to see one...

Bill I think it would work. .

I have plenty of parts to work with.

My single shots now have a marlin trigger guard and a solid wood bottom

better looking. Kenny

Were you thinking of just shortening a factory magazine and using the depth of the cutout to hold it in place? It would be interesting to see how hard it is to load a magazine while it is in the action, from the top.

I wonder if the mag box and follower from a sako L461 could be made to work? I'm betting that whatever you end up with will need to be a center feed box unless there is work done to the bottom of the 527 action rails. I don't know what they look like.

drew

I also think a good idea would be, drag a rifle out and see how a round loads from the top.

In the past,I never put a round in the rifle when varmint hunting.

It's different in Ohio now, WE HAVE COYOTES. Kenny
