Howa mini’s
Like I need another rifle......ran across some Howa minis price around $300.
They have them in 222 and 204. How are these as far as using one for a build? Plastic magazines, thoughts on these. Is there much out there as far as after market parts. I see Boyd’s has stocks. Any triggers for these. Jeff |

I think the howa mini is really nice, especially for the price. The stock is rubbery and the bottom plastic piece is not great, but the receiver, barrel, and trigger are good. The action is smooth and high quality, the trigger is good and they're usually pretty accurate out of the box. There is a decent aftermarket for them now. For example, Boyds makes stocks, MDT makes a chassis, you can get machined aluminum bottom metal, scope rails, etc. The guys over at grendel talk about them:

Howa Mini
That's a great price, especially is it is the heavy barrel.
I was just thinking about this topic last week. I have a barreled action in 6.5 Grendel sitting in its box. I was contemplating putting it in a MDT XL-LSS Gen 2 chassis, but also contemplating a Boyd AOT Thumbhole. Bell & Carlson just released their stock for the Howa Mini. Whatever way you decide to go just remember the stock has to be designed for the "Howa Mini" action. https://mdttac.com/us_en/catalog/product/view/id/335 https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product-configurator http://www.bellandcarlson.com/index....tegory_ID=1139 There are aftermarket triggers, such as Timney. DPI makes a replacement trigger guard/bottom metal, which apparently has an improved magazine release. For a couple of dollars they will engrave the lip of the bottom metal with the caliber of the rifle. https://www.diproductsinc.com/Products.aspx?CAT=12462 Some people are also trying to adapt other bottom metal so that they can use AIC metal magazines instead of the OEM plastic magazine. Some people are modifying the OEM magazines to make it flush fit. The guys on the 6.5 Grendel Forum have been playing with the Howa Mini's. These are a few key articles I stumbled across last week, but there are a lot more threads. http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showt...e-Modification http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showt...ction-Upgrades I hope this helps Last edited by Oso Polaris; 04-12-2019 at 03:33 PM. |

We've had very strong sales with our Remage Barrel Nuts for installing Rem 700 barrels with a nut like a Savage.
Recently we've had some requests to make Howage Nuts for the Std and Mini Howas. We should have them ready to go in about 10 days. Tony Rumore Tromix |

There's quite a few of them on Gun Broker right now, in .222 with the heavy barrel. No reserve. I picked one up this morning for $325.

After Market Stocks
I received feedback from Boyd’s about their At-One stock (veneered wood) for the Howa Mini. It weighs 2.5#, which is same weight as Bell&Carlson’s new fiberglass stock.

What are the chances of building a repeating 358 winchester with 200gr bullets on one. Anyone tried?
