Default 17ppc info needed

Planning to order a chamber reamer (unless someone is selling theirs)
Don't intend to outside turn necks
Intend to use LAPUA 220 RUSSIAN brass

So can anyone provide the outside diameter of your loaded round based on LAPUA 220 Russian case ?

I would bet that necking down will require a neck turning clean up at neck shoulder junction.

Al,
I think I have one in the reloading room. Let me check on it in the morning and I will get back to you.

Default 17 PPC Reamer

I have a PTG floating pilot reamer that has cut two chambers. I do not have the print for it but it is marked .035 FB and there is no print reference number. My records show that the fired case neck diameter is .200” in my Bat so it is likely that the chamber neck cut with the reamer is .199” (Edit - chamber neck would be .201” allowing for brass springback - not .199” )

If this is of interest to you let me know via post here or PM.

Thanks,

Oops - just noticed your statement about using Lapua brass without neck turning! This reamer would definitely require that Lapua brass be neck turned so this is likely not for you.

Thanks for the effort...but you're right that I didnt wanna turn necks.. at least I thought I wouldnt have to if I got the correct reamer.

I'm discovering that the 17PPC requires outside neck turning ...
Using parent cartridge 6PPC and reducing it to 17Cal obviously develops extra brass thickness and requires clean up at neck/shoulder.
???

Default 17 ppc

I’m not sure what neck diameter you would need in order to avoid neck turning after reducing from 220 Russian to 17 PPC. I suspect you would have a REALLY thick case neck. (Neck turning isn’t all that bad - in fact I kind of enjoy it. )

Good luck - I hope you find what you are looking for.

I’m building a .17/.20 Bat PPC pistol right now . Unfortunately you do have to neck turn because of brass thickness .
