Default Texas and constitutional carry...........

The Texas Senate just approved constitutional carry a couple of hours ago after passing the bill by a vote of 17-13 with one Republican Senator absent.

The House passed the same bill yesterday after coming out of committee........

It now goes to Gov. Abbott's desk for his signature. He has stated for several years that he will sign a constitutional carry bill if the legislature gets one to his desk. With his signature it goes into effect on September 1.

No one is expecting any additional hurdles at this point in time, but this has been a multi-year effort on the part of many people. Texas accepted shall issue concealed carry early on years ago, but thanks to libs in the legislature, this step has been a biotch.

God Bless Texas.

The way it should be in every state. But the commies in many will not let it occur.

I wonder how this effects reciprocity with other neighboring states. Do I need to maintain my TX Carry Permit to receive recognition when traveling out of state... TBD

I am guessing that Texans will still need to maintain their Carry Permit in order to receive Reciprocity Courtesy/ Privileges in other states. My wife now has one more layer of protection beyond Castle Doctrine.

I would say that the Passing of this bill in Texas, to carry without a license is only valid in Texas.
You better have proper permits when entering other states. Could get very touchy.

Yupper.

This applies only inside the Texas border. You still have to comply with the CC laws in other states. Nothing has changed in that respect.

The legislation was signed into law effective Sept. 1 by Gov. Abbott today.

A formal signing of constitutional carry and several other pieces of pro-gun legislation passed in the legislative session scheduled "for the cameras" tomorrow at 11 AM. Constitutional carry was the big un'. It was a long battle....

SB 18-2A Protections during Disasters/States of Emergencies (Senator Creighton)

SB 19- 2A Anti-Discrimination - the state can no longer do business with private businesses who discriminate against the gun industry (Senator Schwertner)

SB 20- The Hotel bill-which requires hotels to allow you to carry concealed directly to your room or coming from your room to you car (Senator Campbell).

SB 550- The LTC holster bill that allows those who wish to carry openly, to choose the holster that suits them best as opposed to current law which requires either a shoulder holster or a belt holster. (Senator Springer)

I believe that Texas is one of your largest states, good on them for passing all those bills into legislation, meanwhile......................................... .......................

Over here in the land of the enlightened, the Labor of Western Australia, our largest state, our version of your democrats, have just made jell blaster firearms ILLEGAL, to be handed in to the police, with NO, that is ZERO compensation. Jeez its great to live in such a free country.
