Default Christmas Came a Little Early (Thanks 219DW)

Just got a new to me Toy. Contender Easy Open frame with 12 inch Custom Shop SS Barrel chambered in 300 Whisper. Previous owner had rim cut so 357 Max Brass can be used. It is fitted with a Vais Brake and wears BullBerry custom furniture. It is topped with a Warne base, 30mm Burris Signature rings and a 6.5 - 20 x50mm Burris MTac scope. Came with 150+ Brass and Redding loading dies. Can't wait to get some ammo loaded and get to the bench.

Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving
Doug

That looks very nice! We will, of course, need a range report.
Happy Thanksgiving!

That’s pretty awesome, you will enjoy that one! With the 357 max brass this lil guy is about as close to a 30 Herrett s as you can get.

I’ve been loading/shooting my 30 Herrett the last couple of weeks mostly 110 & 125 gr bullets. I bought a box of Hornady 30 Mauser 86 grain bullets. They didn’t have a velocity limit on the box so I figured I’d give them a a try. No groups but they are knocking down steel.

Got to thinking, are you planning on shooting heavy subsonic loads? I was considering trying it out in my 10” Herrett but decided that it wasn’t really built for the heavier bullets and gave up on the notion (I might check the twist and revisit this). But I did just purchase a NOE mold for my son’s 300BO.
