Default Finally! CZ527 in 221 Fireball

I missed the opportunity to purchase one of the rifles and later regretted it. But I stumbled onto a 221 FB takeoff barrel and waited for a suitable donor rifle. By the time I found the needed rifle, I forgot where I stashed the barrel. Well I was looking for a M70 264WM barrel, bingo, I found the misplaced barrel. The barrel is now on the action and the rifle assembled. I'm about ready to load some ammo and was wondering if CZ used 1/12 twist barrels on their rifles.
The additional bonus that came out of the barrel going MIA was that I snagged a 17 Hornet barrel that will become a 17 MKIV option. Sometimes it just takes a long time to good plan to mature.

Screwed on the barrel yesterday, added a 10X scope, sized and loaded some R-P 221 fired brass I had had handy, primed them with CCI400 and used 18 gr. of RL-7 pushing 40 gr. bullets. Not a super fast or high pressure load, but then again I just wanted to get the rifle sighted in.

The range was busy, so I opted to use the 200 yd. firing point and shot this group with 40 gr. Nosler Varmageddon bullets:

A little over 1/2 MOA without bedding the rifle, adjusting the bullet seating depth, or finding a loading node.
I'm liking it!

Just think how much more you will enjoy/like it when you tighten that grouping up. Keep us posted.

Lost the barrel? LOL. I thought I was the only one who did things like that.

Sounds like a good barrel! You will have fun with it!! Probably my most favorite 22 caliber. I just sat up my progressive press and started loading a large batch of 221 FB. Hoping to get to shoot a few groups today with the test batch before I finish cranking them out.

The 221FB is one of my favorites also. First got one myself in a Cooper M21 for Christmas in'98, then followed with the CZ527 in 2004 when CZ first chambered that caliber. Been reloading with RL7 and AA2200 for them, typically with 40-45gr bullets. .

Could you PM me your loading data as AA2200 is on the docket for the next trip to the range.
