Truing CZ 527 action?
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts to share regarding the necessity or desirability of truing the CZ 527 action? Is there a noticeable improvement from this work?
The rifle will be used for informal target shooting, prairie dogs (if I can find a place that doesn't charge an arm and leg to shoot!!) and ground hogs. No competition shooting anticipated. I am considering my options for the CZ 7.62 x 39 action I recently purchased thanks to mentoring by Chuck. Thanks,

yes...
A friend turned a steel mandrel between centers that is a tight fit in the bolt raceway of CZ 527 actions. We did it to be able to true the face of the front action ring for rebarreling measurement purposes. It was surprising how a few CZ 527 actions seem to have slight misalignment of the bolt raceway, maybe heat treatment slightly warped them? Doubt it mattered much for our varmint rifles purposes. However it is nice to have a full tried 'flat' to base measurements by for barrel fitting. The same area was not even close to being 'true' and required at least 3 to 5 thousanth cut to attain a full flat all the way around the ring face.

Thanks Alan. Sounds like it is worthwhile even for my intended use.
