Yes Montana Doug grade wood is the finest exhibition grade wood available from any factory, all others are judged according to this scale with most falling short. But hey I won't ever knock a guy for being blessed. I'll rib him heck of a lot but won't hold it against him. I just figure all the guns I buy are practice wood for the factory so they can get Dougs just right. We would expect not less.

Gosh guys, you mean they don't all look like this ole thing ??
Even a blind squirrel and all! Congrats 260 on the new rifle!! You be real sure and keep us all posted on the progress. Somewhere around 12.5 grains and work up of Lil'Gun in one a those WW cases under a 40 grain V-Max seated out to far to fit the magazine with a WSR or some such primer oughtta make ya giggle. Good luck! P.S. Good luck with the cursed brown crud on the before first firing cleaning .

Very nice Doug. My stock looks like a piece of pallet wood compared to that.
I'm going to have to find some lilgun and work up a load. My previous 22 hornet was a TC Encore and I could leave the OAL long. Needless to say the 20 rds I have left over are 1/8" to long. I may push them deeper and see how they shoot. The old TC shot fine bit I wanted a repeater for predators so I want to work within mag limits.

That stock on mine is fairly typical of the older fancy CZ stocks you'd find on occasion, not real consistent from side to side or end to end but a real nice butt stock anyway.
I'll be real surprised if that one ya got doesn't shoot great! If you're gonna wanna use the magazine you'll probably want something without a polymer tip, they sure make the OAL way long. Do keep us posted though . As a personal opinion only I gotta say that I think ya got lucky getting the American design rather than the Lux. All worked out for the best I'd say .

Thanks Doug I think your right. The American was on the wish list the whole time and better fit to my needs. The lux just got the eye at 300 off retail. I'm happy with my purchase.

Don’t get me wrong I appreciate fine wood and exquisite metal work in a firearm, but not to the extent allot of people do. Nothing wrong with that in the least, for me I’d rather a gun that shoots exceptionally well, pretty doesn’t do anything for me only the accuracy of a piece. However for those that seek it and can afford it, more power to ya. That should keep the price of the boat oars down a bit.

260Ackley: My Son and I both shoot CZ 527 22 Hornets, and have for several years . My Son`s is a FS model and mine is an American model. We use the same load in both rifles and the best we have found for us is 11grs of IMR4227 powder and Hornady 35gr V-max bullets at about 2860 FPS, with bullets set out as long as the magazines will let us. We are getting groups 1/2 inch or less at a 100yds. We like our rifles more ever time we use them and we shoot them quite a bit. The stocks on our rifles are ok, but nothing like what old lucky ((( Montdoug ))) has on his rifles. I hope you enjoy your rifle as much as we do ours.

I've got a half-dozen CZs, and I think all my stocks came from wood stolen off Ruger's woodpile. Straight-grained isn't bad, just plain.
Truthfully, though, they all shoot well enough to keep me very happy, so it doesn't break my heart much. Even better, they don't weigh much, and are easy to carry around. Can't argue with that. |
