Default 17 rem question

hi yall i had a couple questions about the 17 rem.

do you know the approx energies from very short barrels eg. 7 inch or so. would it be maybe 350 ft lbs?

has anyone had experience with the 37 bergers? or any heavyweights?

and would such bullets be useful in the 17 fireball...it normally has only about 800lbs...would a 37 help boost the energy

thanks

Trying to wrap my head around a 7" barreled .17 Rem.?????
As to the question, I do not know. What twist would be needed
to stabilize a 37gr. .172" bullet at low velocity?

If you are shooting a 17 Rem from a 7 inch barrel, what would it matter ?
Don't believe it would be all that accurate and all,, for any distance out of a 7 inch barrel.
Are you after a short range personal defense handgun with it ?

Wow, a 17 Rem with a 7 inch barrel, I'm guessing it would be very LOUD and it would be one he11 of a flamethrower.

Also, didn't they have all kinds of problems with those coming apart? Seemed it was one of those bullets that required a lot of twist to stabilize but you couldn't push them very fast or the excessive RPM made them self destruct.

Even with a super fast twist, could you spin it enough to come apart out of the 7 inch barrel ?

That's what I recall. I had a couple of boxes of them waiting for a fast twist 17 project, then the bullets were discontinued, I lost interest and sold the bullets.

Bill I suppose it would somewhat depend on how fast the twist is but with all due respect to the OP a 7 inch barreled 17 Rem kinda seems a little on the silly side but hey we all like different things so whatever turns a guys crank so more power to ya if that's what someone wants.

LOL....

With a 7" barrel, you can attach a bayonet and still have a handy rifle for carrying....... And the short barrel and the flame that it will throw allows you to BBQ as you shoot......... Within reasonable distances of course.
