Default boy do I have a load for you

If only someone would please share their top secret load info with me I know I can turn my mediocre gun into a world class shooter. that way I don't have to waste my time working up loads. I can just learn from all your hard work..
all kidding aside Bill, I think it's the sign of the times and why not. there is a tremendous amount of info available just by asking. I'm still hoping to come your way for that hamburger. I'll let you know when I set a time
Jim

17 Wiffleblaster,

I like it. Think I'll take one if you can give me load information using 50 grain bullets at 5500 fps.

No info on the 50s but I've got the 30 solid coppers going 6245. The only problem is I'm going broke buying Sweets and I'm buying it by the case!

They do want the magic load just given too them. But do not realize that what is super for one and his rifle/pistol, etc. is not a given for their weapon.
Each is a beast in it's own right and must be tested and the load ( and bullet) that works for theirs.
Bottom line is still use and read, for starters the information offered by the bullet and especially the powder companies. Bill K
Can't have it both ways Bill. Is it read the manual or is it experiment?
My guess is the experimenting comes after the manual doesn't come up with the goods. In my case I'd love to see a manual giving data for a 17gr Vmax for my 17 Hornet or even better the lowest reduced loads for 17/20/25/30gr hornet bullets. Due to the lack of data I'm forced to experiment but before I do I and lots of people like me come to places like this to ask if someone's done it before.

There may be a way to achieve that velocity, but not without resorting to either a smooth bore saboted tungsten super pointy needle flechette, or a little dynamite added to the projectile base.

Physics aside and bore life be danged, it is probably possible with a 30 caliber sabot for a .172" caliber tungsten projectile. That concept would be easy to replicate if you simply scaled down a 105mm cannon from an M1 Abrams.

Try to use a Chrome or stellite lined bore for added life and use a DuPontTM ZytelŪ LCPA flexible polymer for sabot material.

There, that can do it, just use a 340WBY case and a 340WBY action with a 40" smooth bore barrel.

Default Date questions

Any loaded date works as long as you can chamber the cartridge and fire safely.
