If you can find a gauge in the Wildcat caliber you're working with, get it, use it, then like you said, compare that setting with a full length resized case.
That way you'll know how much of a difference there is. It's all a learning thing. Some of us have "been there, done that" more than once but we're all open to learning something new. Do what you're comfortable with. Keep LOTS of notes so you can go back and see exactily what you did. You'll be surprised at how much you forget when you're on a roll. So far, you're doing good! |

You did a nice job.
My first bed job wasn't nearly as graceful. Glad to see you started on a good note. |

How does it shoot?
I've been playing with it off and on this fall. Tried a couple of different powders and three different bullets. This is one of my fireform groups at 100 yards.
[IMG][/IMG] Tried one of my better loads today at 200 yards. [IMG][/IMG] Truth is, I'm probably the limiting factor on this project now..........and I can live with that. Now I'm just waiting for spring and gophers. |

Sharpshooter Supply extractor / ejector
Just a note/plug for Sharpshooter Supply: I installed their extractor/ejector kit (extractor, .140 detent ball, new ejector and spring - $20) because my rifle was leaving fired brass laying in the load port every time. Installed the new parts while watching the "how to" video on YouTube. Took about 15 minutes and brass is ejecting nicely now. Did take a month to get the parts.

Hi Teancum what length and contour is your barrell, it looks the perfect profile for my upcoming Fireball re-barreling. Thanks

Barrel length
I went with a 22" Shilen S7 "Savage Varmint" profile. It is actually a bit heavier than I had planned - a .20 caliber hole doesn't take much weight off, but overall I am pretty happy with it.
