Gary, I am running Saubier.com on Microsoft Edge.

I went to your album where you have successfully uploaded pics, right-clicked directly on your pic and got a drop-down menu,

select copy image link, (this drop-down menu mentions the word copy 3 times, be wary)

then open a reply box and click this graphic which opens a new window with a blank line,

right-click on the blank line and get a drop-down menu,

select paste and click OK in the window.

That should get you a line in your reply that looks something like this:

Then at the bottom of the reply window click Preview Post to see if it worked.

I will have to try this again but it seems to be exactly what I think I did except that I did this with an iPad.

Anyway, the photo you displayed in your post is of my sight. I think I only need the elevation nut and the tiny rod that bears against the underside of the elevation screw that causes the clicks while adjusting and (maybe?) keeps the screw from backing out.

Since these parts seem to be unavailable, I may have to look for a third-party replacement sight.
Thanks,

If you go to Numrichs in the S&W section under model 52-2 Schematic parts #47 (rear sight plunger, $2.45 in stock) and part #52 (rear sight plunger spring, $2.45 in stock) are available. No luck yet on a nut.

Would those parts also fit my model 41?

Hadn’t really considered similar parts from another pistol.

I THINK that what I am missing is the rear sight plunger (for the 5 1/2” barrel - looks like the one for the 7” barrel is available from Brownell’s) and the nut.

Default S&W model 41 sight

Wow! I hadn’t even thought of that. I just pulled out my model 52 and I’ll be darned if the sight doesn’t appear to be very, very close if not identical to the one on the 41.

Now if I can take the model 52 sight apart without wrecking it, I should be able to see for sure what I am missing and just what it looks like.

I really appreciate your pointing me in this direction.

Thanks,

These numbers are off of Brownells schematic drawings for the model 41 and model 52-R2 pistols. Brownells part number 940-036-390WB SIGHT PLUNGER SPRING,REAR (drawing number 61 for the model 41 pistol and drawing number 52 for the model 52 pistol) and 940-071-580WB SIGHT PLUNGER, REAR (drawing number 60 for the model 41 pistol and drawing number 47 for the model 52 pistol). There the same interchangeable parts between the model 41 and model 52 pistols. The style 52 sight got its name from the model 52 38 special caliber model target pistol.

The plunger and spring were listed as in stock at Brownells also.

David,
Thank you for this information and the time you spent gathering it. I was on Brownell’s site this afternoon and put some of these pieces in my cart. I didn’t check out at that time because I wasn’t certain some of the parts were correct.

Looks like I may be able to get most of what I think I will need - with the exception of the elevation nut. Guess I had better grab the other pieces while they are still available.

Thanks again for your help!

You might try an E-Mail to Clark Custom Guns out of Louisiana they do work on the model 41 pistols. If they dont have the sight nut maybe they can steer you in the right direction. There was a gunsmith out of Texas with an Italian last name who was well known for his work on the model 41's. For the life of me I cant remember the name though, maybe another member here will know who I'm think about. Good Luck

I have ordered the available parts from Brownell’s and sent Clark’s an email this afternoon.

Thanks again for your assistance. I do appreciate it.
