An email to Cooper with the serial # should answer any and all questions, they tend to be very prompt (at least in my experience) with their replies.

Good photo's, but none show a Maple stock/wood with checkering.

Great pics of Walnut Coopers like the ones I have and have had. Unfortunately none of those are my Maple Cooper.

If you look on Coopers option page you'll see they offer a AAA Maple stock option. Guess I dont see what the fuss is about.

It is a Varminter stock. Those pictured are Varminter stocks.

Evidently Sherm some think it should have or needs checkering.
He is probably like me, he has this rifle and I have one in a maple stock, wide forearm and it is not checkered and I am perfectly happy with it, that way. And I believe the OP is also, with his. Bill K
