Kinda looks to me like L461 let him fatten up a bit (ok alot) on those big juicy rabbits so he was easier to hit

Just a touch OT.
Some yrs ago the wife had a tom cat that kept getting in trouble with the others and the dogs. SO she kept Bob locked in a bedroom most of the time.
One day I went in there and he busted thru the barely opened door. I wasn't quick enough but, was close enough to catch the last 4" of his tail in the door as it slammed shut on it.
Peeled all the hide off to the bone.
I called the vet and was told not to worry about it, just watch for infection. Over a few weeks the bare boned tail just dried up to a dead stick like. Finally one day it was off all the way. Bob never paid much attention to the tail but, he sure did watch those doors from then on. You couldn't get him to just walk thru one w/o making a mad dash thru it.
Mange, or a fight, maybe even a trap got this fox's tail. Sure don't seem to hurt 'em much from the few I've seen shortened up.
