Default 6x47 Remington

Just interested if anyone is shooting the 6X47 Remington and would not mind sharing experiences and loading data.

I would be interested in hearing experiences as well. Not trying to hijack the thread though. Thinking about putting together a youth rifle for my boys when they are old enough to hunt. They are young yet but slight of build. I love the 243 and thought with the right bullet this may be even less recoil.

which 6x47? 6mm 222 rem mag or the 6x47 lapua? if it's the 6x222 mag the 6x45 is the ballistic twin, brass is everywhere and cases are easy to form. for a while 6x45 loaded ammo was available. I had a 6x47 rem mag and it was a great round, accurate but a little scitzo on occasions with accuracy.

shot a bunch of coyotes with it but not deer. my 6br xp-100 pistol is the twin of the 6x45 and 6mm222 rem mag in a rifle. several deer have ended up in jerky due to a 80 gr sierra at 2860.

Sorry not going to hijack the thread, I was thinking of the 6x45 made from 223 brass. My apologies

I would consider the 243 with 30gr of H4895 behind a 70 or 80gr bullet till they grow a little.

My son started shooting a 243 with full charge 100gr bullet at age 11.

A lot more directions you can go including a trip to town for ammo in a pinch.

Kenny

Not to talk a guy into going a direction that saves him buying several rifles instead of one......but. I'm thinking I might do it the way Kenny suggested and start with light loads in a .243 and then as time passes ya can always do a stouter load. That'd be the "one" rifle way. If ya wanna do it in steps with different rifles which is always great , I'd personally do the 6X45. In today's goofy market place I'd think .222 Mag brass could be a bugger to lay hands on, .556 or .223 brass is everywhere and as Foxhunter said it'd be a push in the ballistics dept.
Which ever round ya use you're gonna have fun, light recoiling, extremely accurate rifles are always a hoot. For a lighter built youth the ability to shoot small groups at sight-in with something that don't hurt is a confidence builder that'll help em with their shooting for the rest of their lives.
The hunter safety instructor, grandad part a me comes out on topics like this.
Sorry for the thorough hijack of your thread. Short answer is my 6X47 is of the Lapua version, I agree on the GHD contact cause I know he's real fond a the original 6X47.

I have a 6x222 (not magnum) listed in the classifieds that will honestly shoot one hole groups with 70 grain ballistic tips. Turn key package for you would be interested.
