Berger 55 gr 20 cal bullets
AlbertaAl, you should be fine with the 1:9 twist. Just changed barrels on my 20BR-30* Panda. Was averaging over 3600 with the 55 gr Bergers and the 9-twist Bartlein. (1500) rds through it with-out a issue. Shot that load at both low and high elevations. 410gauge

AlbertaAl, I've only used RL-15 with the 55 gr Berger. It worked well for me...so I've stayed with it over a number of years. 410gauge

My 20BR IMPROVED40deg 1:9 PacNor has been shooting 50gr. Bergers @ 3740 fps using 30.5gr. IMR8208 and CCI 450's All I can say is it's very accurate and fast ! I'll be load building the 55's sometime later this month but will use caution not to waste too many bullets with this barrel because it's nearing it's end. |

Wish Berger would do this for the 30gr .172 bthp.

Hello Everyone!
Been a long time since I've been around here. Stopped by today and saw this post. I no longer have my 20 Dasher (20 BR IMP 40 deg.) BAT SV action and Lilja 26" 9 TW., but have done a fair bit with the one I used to have. I now have a couple of 20-250's that we've built. Just FYI, my favorite powder was N540. RL15, Hunter, Big Game, and H414 were used in our load development. Each of these averaged between 3650 fps and 3760 fps. with the 55's. These were coated bullets using Danzac (Tungsten Disulfide?) Super fun cartridge, but now shoot repeaters in the 20-250 with similar velocities. In the process of of putting together a new light weight 20 TAC to shoot the 55's with a new suppressed Proof 20" 9tw. Good luck Al with the new bullets!

20br improved
Here's a photo of my 20BR IMPROVED
It's a switch barrel rifle, BAT action single shot with a Robertson stock and Jewell trigger. I have the barrel vice and action wrench to swap out barrels that I have on-hand. I've got a 20BR 1:11 , 22-250Ackley 1:9 , 243Ackley 1:10 and the 20BR IMPROVED 1:9 All the barrels are same configuration. Last edited by AlbertaAl; 02-12-2020 at 12:42 AM. |
