Nice shooting and what a difference that made.
I read where so e say small 17&20 calibers are finicky but my limited experience is just opposite. And I’ve had my share of 22 hornets that finicky... Lilgun seems to always amaze me, I have a#1 in a 218 bee that grouped great windage-wise but horrible vertical stringing. Top end load of Lilgun brought in respectable groups but not as good as your group!

No.1385 is a HP bullet with a thicker/tougher jacket and meant for high speed cartridges, like for 22-250 or Swift. They sometimes can ricochet on hard surfaces, so keep that in mind. If it works for your Hornet, so be it and enjoy.

I've had the same experience with Lil Gun in a Hornet. It shot more like a shotgun under 13 grains, once above it started to come together. I would have to look but I think I settled at 13.0 or 13.1. Nice shooting for sure!!!!!

.22 Hornet
Just a question: Did you jump from 12.6 to 13, or work up? Under the right circumstances, that big an increase in a tiny case could cause a lot of grief. Jus' sayin'

Yes, I have looked at the velocities of this bullet and know its a bit velocity deficient for expansion in the hornet. I use the Varmint nightmare's 34 gr and 40 gr V max on animals. I just wanted to try the bullet because I have read so much on accuracy potential

Yes, went from 12.6 to 13 I have run bullets of same weight and length before and kind of know the results I would get. My go to 40 gr load is 13 grs under a 40 gr vmax with good results

The 13 grs is hodgdons max for 40 gr bullets, and being that I have shot identical weight and length bullets I figured it is not an issue.

Even a full case of LilGun in a std Hornet is under 29K CUP. 4227 is 43K CUP for a max load. Small pistol primers still look great with a full case of LilGun and a 40 Vmax.
