Default At last, I finally did it!

I did it! I FINALLY DID IT"!!
For years I've talked about "Lacking in Will Power" and "Being impulse challenged" . Unfortunately a true story sad to tell .
There has been a fair bit of talk of 1885's in .17WSM of late around here and I know I really like 1885's and being a rim-fire junkie as well it's a combo that has had me coming back to the computer off and on on a regular basis of late.
Couldn't sleep last night so once again I took another run at Mr. Google on the topic and hit a big one so to speak. CDNN down in Texas had a real sale going on. Click on this one.

I need another rat rifle like I need another hole in my head but the Screaming Itch to get one a these on it's way to Montana really had me by the throat. I fought the urge tooth and nail for about an hour and a half and finally decided I was gonna let my will power win one this time. Took the dogs for a walk and went to bed. I do however think that some a you guys oughtta pick one a these up and show me how dumb I was for passing on one a these. Sure hope they sell outta these before I get weak in the chutes.
I'll give the urge a few days and see how bad it's still itching! Sure looks like a neat combo.

CDNN has had those last three 17 WSM Low Walls on "Special Sale" for probably the last six months. That is also the "Special Sale" price when they first listed them maybe a year ago with 10 or so in stock, and it follows their standard "mode of operation" concerning prices (show the retail and show the CDNN price as being "Special Sale"). CDNN buys inventories from other shops and companies at huge discounts and passes the product along at prices far lower than normal retail. They will finally get down to two in stock if you buy one......

About two weeks ago Buds', IIRC, had them for less than $1K. I'm not sure if they still have any or not. I do know that Bud's still has the now discontinued stainless/walnut Ruger 77 17WSM with the 24" barrel. Ruger is now showing only the 20" and the 18.5" rifles as being current production items.

You'll like the 17 WSM if you buy one. I've heard on the internet that it will increase the effective range over the 17 HMR by maybe 30 yards.........

Doug, you almost got me on that one, I clicked on the link and looked at the 1885, drooled and then remembered what I wrote a while back. "this is the Last One I Swear!" I need to go take a cold shower... do you know if it is drilled for scope bases?
Bill in remission I hope!

Oh yes, almost forgot.. I haven't fired the 1885 223 yet!

It is drilled for scope bases, and when CDNN first offered these 17 WSM's maybe a year ago, for some time they also offered Leupy bases that were linked to the rifles. Not sure if they still have any of them or not.

I bought a stainless/walnut 24" 17WSM at First Stop in RC, SD for my first 17 WSM, and I bought one of the 18.5" Rugers when they came out late last summer. Both shoot extremely well.

They are fun little rifles. We had one in for a few months and took it to Northern Arizona for a prairie dog hunt.

You're not helping any Eric ole Bud .
I did hear the rings and mounts are spendy as heck on that critter which is a little off putting. So is the fact I have a Cooper .17 MachIV, a Browning 1885 .22 Hornet and a couple others I haven't even shot yet due to winter weather. Weasil I think I'll wait to let her cold get better before I let her check me for a Fever, She's got a humdinger of a cold and I'm taken care of her as is. As much as she's cared for me though over the years I'll never get even anyway .

Default Doug,I’m proud of you....

Pretty sure Buds is out of the 24” s/s Ruger as people are snatching them up and the 1885 was$1067 last I looked, been fighting the same itch. The struggle is real!I asked Cooper why they dropped the 38 and at the same time if they would make a 17 WSM and was told that they are thinking about it
When and if CCI makes ammo and Cooper,Sako,Tikka,Annie,CZ join the fray I will then loose my will power and that’s my rationale for the 17WSM

As of a few minutes ago Bud's had the 24" stainless bolt rifles in stock according to their buying and cart process. Supposedly less than 5 in stock....? I didn't look for the 1885.

I too was initially worried about the ammo issues I had heard about on the internet but I leaped anyway when I ran across the first rifle (24" stainless) that I bought. I have bought and shot all three current types of ammo made by Winchester in two different Ruger 77/17 17 WSM rifles (24" & 18.5") and I've had nothing but good luck (good accuracy) with everything.

I can't believe that I'm that lucky and everyone else isn't...........
